Who We Are

Hoosiers for Renewables supports the development of renewable energy across Indiana. We work to educate consumers, businesses, farmers, and community leaders about the benefits of low-cost, reliable renewable energy. A mix of energy sources, that includes wind, solar, hydrogen, and biomass is a crucial part of a growing economy and is essential to ensuring that Indiana stays competitive with other states. NextEra Energy Resources supports the work of Hoosiers for Renewables.

Our Story

Hoosiers for Renewables was founded in 2019 by Steve Eberly - a cattle farmer and former Warren County Commissioner

Steve Eberly, Founding Executive Director

When Steve supported a local wind project in his county as commissioner, anti-renewable activists ran an organized and successful campaign to remove Steve from office. He then founded Hoosiers for Renewables to help support local wind and solar projects across the state. (Want to learn more about Steve? Read his bio.)

When Steve retired in 2023, Rachel Conner took over as executive director

Rachel Conner, Executive Director

Rachel is a mother of two and passionate about renewables for a better future for her kids, meaning a better environment, a better economy and better job opportunities.  Rachel’s family owns a dairy farm in central Indiana.  Prior to working with Hoosiers for Renewables, Rachel served on the industry affairs team at the Indiana Soybean Alliance and Indiana Corn Growers Association. She holds degrees from Indiana University and Ball State University. (Want to learn more about Rachel? – Read her bio.)
